10 ways to attract good clients and customers
Delivering exceptional quality and value to clients is incredibly important to us at Krishna Solanki Designs, I believe that encouraging strong, long-lasting relationships with our clients is crucial. By going over and beyond client expectations, maintaining transparency and excellent communication, and providing support, all whilst continuously improving our services, we ensure that our clients not only receive top-notch work but also feel valued and supported throughout the project. In this blog post, I’m sharing our secrets and key strategies that we use to attract, and keep, good clients!
1 | Deliver exceptional quality and value
Consistent quality:
By always delivering high-quality work that meets or exceeds our client expectations we ensure every project reflects not only our best efforts and attention to detail but also lends itself nicely to “happy surprises” for our clients.
Tip: We occasionally provide additional value beyond the initial website design and development scope by offering tailored advice, and suggestions, on how to improve their overall online brand presence or suggesting by sharing insights on new features for their Squarespace website.
2 | Excellent communication
Regular updates:
Honestly, it’s not rocket science! Keeping clients informed about the progress of their projects with regular updates is not only helpful but also informative. This helps build trust and ensures our clients feel involved in the process.
Tip: Listening to our clients’ needs, concerns, and feedback is so important. It’s within these moments we have the opportunity to address any issues promptly, effectively and within a timely manner.
3. Customer support and service
Post-launch support:
One of the things we pride ourselves on is being able to support our clients after a project is complete. I offer a couple of different support packages, including the Designer for the Day service, or monthly support. Depending on what you need we can tailor the support to you and your business and requirements! This can include Squarespace website maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting for your website, or branding and design support - anything from creating branded materials, event collateral and more.
Tip: Having a dedicated support offering through the right channel is so important. Providing clear and accessible support is something I’ve learnt our clients really appreciate - It’s peace of mind knowing we are on top of everything!
4. Build strong relationships
Personal Touch:
Have you ever received a handwritten note? Maybe a surprise thank you gift? Every time we sign a new client I love sending them a personalised “thank you” as it’s such an important gesture to mark how much I appreciate their custom! Without our clients, we can’t do great things! Plus it shows that I am genuinely interested in helping them progress and support their business success going forward!
Tip: Before a project has officially started and after the project has finished I always schedule regular check-ins and follow-up meetings to see how things are going. This is so important as we get to discuss their evolving needs and we can make a plan to support them! (Taking us back to point 3: Client support and service!)
5. Loyalty programs and incentives
Loyalty discounts:
We like to ensure our client has everything they need, but sometimes during a project, some requirements may “pop up” that may not have been discussed earlier, if it requires an additional quote then we don’t hold back in offering discounts or special rates for those clients. We also love repeat clients so as a gesture of thanks and as a token of appreciation for their continued business, we do offer discounts - it’s usually a nice healthy percentage off the quote!
Tip: Although not something we do at KSD, I’ve heard some businesses offer “referral rewards”. This is essentially putting into place a program that rewards clients, or business partners for bringing in new business.
6. Ask and act on feedback
Regular surveys and client interviews:
To continue delivering good work and ensuring our clients are happy, I often ask my clients for feedback. This is either during or towards the end of the project and I’ve learnt that it is invaluable. It’s so important to learn if there are areas of improvement and so it’s equally important to act and implement changes if you see, or are made aware of, such an opportunity.
Not so long ago I also appointed an independent agency to review and interview 5 key clients to gauge their experience and identify areas for improvement - This was incredibly helpful and an eye-opener too!
Tip: When asking for feedback try not to feel personally involved (easier said than done sometimes, but so important!). Equally important is making time to implement feedback and communicate any changes and actions you will be taking, especially if they impact your services or processes.
7. Education and empowerment
Training sessions:
Providing training sessions and/or workshops to help clients get the most out of their Squarespace website and brand assets is a great way to empower your clients. I find conducting online training sessions, via Zoom, can be a great way to not only help our clients but also educate them on how to maintain consistency and cohesion going forward.
Tip: Creating and sharing resources, such as guides, tutorials, walk-throughs, and videos is another way to educate and empower clients. This also reassures them, and can encourage them to become repeat clients as well!
8. Showcase their success
Case studies:
Case studies are a great way to showcase how your work has positively impacted your client’s business. We often write case studies for our brilliant work. Not only because it allows us to market our work, but it also shows our clients that we truly value them and love celebrating their success as well!
Tip: One of the easiest ways we do this is by giving our clients a “social media shoutout”
9. Continuous improvement
With the nature of the digital landscape, it’s so important to stay current and keep up with industry trends by continuously improving your skills and services. We’ve noticed that our clients appreciate when we let them know about any new Squarespace developments or design suggestions, so it’s almost a no-brainer to continually learn and share your wisdom.
Tip: Regularly improving your services and processes by introducing enhancements that benefit your clients is another great way to ensure you attract and keep good clients.
10. Contractual clarity
It’s super important to have clear agreements and contracts in place to ensure all terms, deliverables, and expectations are identified and outlined to avoid misunderstandings.
It’s also important to highlight these at key milestones in the project so that your client doesn’t get any nasty surprises - saving both of you time and energy!
Tip: As important as it is to be clear and concise, it’s equally important to be flexible and willing to adapt contracts as your, and your clients, needs evolve. Demonstrating that you are a long-term partner in their business growth reinforces trust and is so valuable.
Conclusion
Overall, building and maintaining strong client relationships is fundamental to business success. By delivering exceptional quality and value, ensuring excellent communication, providing support, and continuously seeking ways to improve, you can encourage loyalty and trust with your clients. These strategies, in turn, not only enhance client satisfaction but also differentiate you as a dedicated and forward-thinking partner in their business journey.
