Third Culture Collective

Founded by Kavi Pau, The Third Culture Collective is a not-for-profit new musical venture that is all about fostering collaboration between Asian and Western musicians, across all ages and abilities. 

The "Third Culture" in the name refers to Third Culture Kids, a term coined in the 1950s to describe individuals raised in a culture other than the culture/country in which their parents were raised.

The "Collective" refers most obviously to the musical side of the project (like a jazz collective).

The Third Culture Collective does this by hosting collaboration days, concerts and composition workshops.

  • Kavi Pau believes in carving out a distinct musical space for third-culture kids, and this is why the Third Culture Collective (TCC) was created. He needed a new visual brand identity that would inspire the next generation of British Asians to engage with Western classical music and for them to take pride in their mixed musical heritage.

  • KSD created a visual brand identity, and collateral, that is classy, clean, and empowering, but also intriguing and trustworthy.

    This included the logo, logo variations, bespoke icons and submark, along with Instagram and Facebook graphics for social media.

    KSD also designed and built the Squarespace 7.1 website, which focused on SEO and image optimisation, as well as making the site as user-friendly as possible.

    As added support, KSD did a tailored handover session with Third Culture Collective, to ensure they had the confidence to maintain and update their website and manage their new visual brand identity.

  • KSD defined a visual brand identity toolkit, including a logo, logo variations, bespoke icons and submark, colour palette, and complimentary font pairings, along with Instagram and Facebook graphics for social media. Plus a website that ensured mobile-friendliness, with full consideration given to user experience and information architecture, all whilst keeping in mind the target audiences.
